Your journey at our IVF clinic - Harlow

Here’s a typical IVF journey at Simply Fertility:

  • Pre-treatment – This involves some preliminary tests and a screening. You’ll also have an initial consultation to discuss the results and possible treatment.
  • Pre-treatment appointment (PTA) – This goes into more detail about your chosen treatment and requires the signing of consent forms.
  • Endometrial scratch – To help with the implantation of embryos.
  • Starting treatment – Call us on day 1 of your period for instructions on how to commence treatment.
  • Ovarian stimulation and monitoring – For two weeks, you will need to take stimulation injections at home. You will also visit us for scans and blood tests to monitor the development of egg producing follicles.
  • Trigger injection – This signals the end of the stimulation period.
  • Egg collection – 36-40 hours after the trigger injection. This procedure takes about half an hour.
  • Providing sperm – Required on the same day as the eggs (either provided or thawed if in storage).
  • Egg insemination – Sperm and eggs are combined in a petri dish, which is then placed in an incubator.
  • Embryo development – You will receive regular updates from our embryologists about development.
  • Embryo transfer – A small drop of culture medium containing one or two embryos is carefully deposited in the uterus using a thin catheter.
  • The wait – Don’t hesitate to contact us during this two-week period.
  • The outcome – Whether positive or negative, we’ll still be on hand to help.
