Visiting Simply Fertility’s IVF Clinic near Colchester

If you are unsure about your fertility status, you can visit Simply Fertility to undergo an assessment. We have various packages available according to your personal circumstances and there is no need for a GP referral.

Each package features a series of simple yet thorough tests, which will highlight any issues. This will be followed by a full review from one of our fertility specialists where you can discuss the results and future recommendations.

The test and review requires just two appointments, will take place entirely on site, and can be arranged at a time convenient to you, making our fertility assessment very easy and straightforward.

Treatment at our IVF clinic

IVF (In-Vitro Fertilisation) treatment is common among couples who want to start a family but have difficulty conceiving naturally. It can also be used by single women and same-sex couples too.

IVF will take your sperm and eggs (or cells if you are using a donor) and combine them in petri dishes. This will then be placed in a laboratory incubator to fertilise. Between two-to-five days later, one or two of the resulting embryos will be removed from the incubator and transferred to the women’s uterus. The hope is that they will implant and develop just like they would in a normal pregnancy.

Women who could benefit from IVF tend to include those with absent or damaged fallopian tubes. However, it is also appropriate for patients experiencing endometriosis, unexplained female infertility, and male infertility.

IVF treatment protocols

  • Long Protocol IVF – This is the most common protocol IVF, which starts with suppressing the patient’s hormones so that we can take control of ovulation. This is known as down-regulation, which we complete using medication called agonists. Later, the patient will also take injections to stimulate the ovaries to produce follicles that contain mature eggs.
  • Short Protocol IVF – This is when tablets are not required. However, the most appropriate protocol will be discussed during consultations and chosen according to your situation.
  • Antagonist (mild) IVF – Another option is antagonist (mild) IVF, whereby injections are taken over a shorter period. This minimises discomfort, brings down the cost of medication, reduces the risk of ovarian hyperstimulation, and can be tailored to the individual.
