Popular treatments at our fertility clinic Colchester

  • IVF – The most common form of fertility treatment, IVF involves the fertilisation of eggs with sperm in a laboratory incubator. After three to five days, one or two of the resulting embryos are transferred to the woman’s uterus through the cervix and will hopefully develop as they would in a normal pregnancy. This is particularly applicable to women whose fallopian tubes are absent or damaged.
  • ICSI – Unlike conventional IVF, where at least 100,000 sperm must be placed with each egg, ICSI treatment involves the injection of a single sperm directly into each egg. However, the treatment leading up to and after ICSI is identical to the conventional IVF cycle. Patients tend to be men with low numbers of normal, motile sperm.
  • Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) – Although a lot depends on quality, spare embryos from IVF treatment can be frozen for future use. Our frozen cycle success rates have been improving year on year and are now almost as high as our fresh cycle rates.
  • Other options – You may also want to consider surrogacy, fertility preservation, egg freezing, help from donors, surgery, and the continuation of natural conception.
